To help guests understand how we gather as a church, here is a description of our weekly services. Generally, our services are characterized by celebratory worship of God through singing, intentional reflection on the Bible, and friendly interaction with one another and guests. While we hope to paint you a good picture of our worship here, we encourage you to come fellowship with us in person to see it for yourself.
Who is Welcome at South Gate?
Everyone is welcome at South Gate! We have people of all ages and backgrounds represented at our church, and there is a spot here just for you and your family.
Body of Service
Our service begins at 10:15 am and generally lasts about 75 minutes. Services are led most often by our pastors and ministers. We will sing several songs, pray, read scripture aloud, be taught the truths of the Bible through preaching, and occasionally celebrate baptisms and the Lord’s Supper.
Sermons
Pastor Joel is committed to expository preaching, meaning that we gather each Sunday to hear what the Bible says in a specific passage. This passage is read, explained, illustrated, and applied during our worship service. Depending on the passage, the sermon length can vary from 35-45 minutes as each sermon exalts Jesus Christ and seeks to equip everyone at South Gate to know Christ more and live a life that honors Him in all we do! All preaching is Christ-Centered because all of Scripture is about Jesus.
After the Sermon
Our services typically close with a brief concluding reflection through song. Our altar is open to come and pray. After the service concludes, we try to initially meet those we don’t recognize so please feel free to tell someone you’re new so that we can personally welcome you & answer any questions you may have.
